About Us

About Us

Hartes was re-opened in December 2009 by Paul Lenehan and Ronan Kinsella. Formally known as Ollie’s or the Vatican this bar was always known to be a busy and well run establishment.

Unfortunatly it closed its doors in 2004 like a lot of other pubs and lay drormant until December 2009 when re-opened and renamed as Hartes of Kildare. Paul and Ronans ambition is to create a hospitality business where service, quality, value for money and consistency are always the focus.

Paul and Ronan are brothers in-law and they bring together a wealth of experience and knowledge gained in Ireland and abroad. They are proud members of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, the Vintners Association of Ireland.

Whether you are living close by or looking for an excuse to visit Kildare, you’ll receive a warm welcome and a great dining experience at Hartes Bar & Grill. Serving locally sourced produce, a range of craft beers and a full wine list, you’ll enjoy a buzzing atmospheric gastropub. We have put a great deal of work into our menu and hope that it excites you and leaves you satisfied when you finally take your leave of us.

We source our food and drinks carefully, providing high quality, fresh and sustainable products whenever possible. Our staff strive for excellence in the creation, preparation and service of our meals, for example we can recommended the perfect craft beer accompaniment for your main course.

Please let us know in advance if you have special dietary requirements so that we can bring our best efforts to bear on catering for that too.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary or an engagement, let us know. Get in touch if you are planning a group booking and we can advise you how best we can cater for your needs. Our bar can be completely reserved for the occasion and we’ll even provide a complementary bottle of prosecco and finger food when it’s booked for a groups of 25 – 50 people.

Irish Craft Beers

Irish Craft Beers at Hartes of Kildare

Today, there has never being a more exciting time to be part of the craft beer scene on this island.

There is now an active consumer group over at www.Beoir.org expounding the virtues of Irish craft beer. A new diversity in available styles has begun in the last decade with craft brewers and craft beer consumers becoming more numerous, confident and adventurous than ever before.

We at Hartes of Kildare, The Dew Drop Inn, & Ashton’s are proud to be part of this new diversity in flavours and styles. Please keep an eye on our website as we expand our range of beers, helping Irish businesses & giving the consumer a new tasting experience with beers & food.
